With support from AUR’s Center for Food Studies, Professor Theron Patterson (Program Director for Film at AUR)Ìýand his studentsÌýare producing a documentary in collaboration with (and based on the research of) G.R.A.S.P.O., an organization dedicated to researching, documenting, and saving rare native Italian wine grapes.

Based on their most recent book, “100 Custodi per 100 Vitigni: La Biodiversità Viticola in Italiaâ€Ìý(100 Custodians for 100 Vines: Vine Biodiversity in Italy)Ìýthe film will document G.R.A.S.P.O.’s story and efforts, as well as tell the stories of some of these grapes and the people who have cultivated them.

Filming has already begun in Veneto and Lombardia and will continue until 2025. It will document different growers and producers in various regions all over Italy as they strive to preserve these grapes, which are at risk of extinction.
